Okay, so it's a LITTLE political ;)

But it mocks everyone equally. (Embedded video under the cut)

Abso-flippin' HILARIOUS! )

I love Lewis Black – especially when he's forced by the FCC to "keep it clean". Yay for the FCC, in this case.

Unfortunately, like South Park and America World Police (or whatever that movie is called), he's terribly vulgar in his normal standup, but his humor is sharp, snarky, and appeals to my vindictive, politically opinionated side – which really only comes out to play when I listen or watch something like this. Sometimes, my diplomatic side takes a little vacation so I can have a little laugh. ;)

I've mentioned before how much I like Jon Stewart and the Daily Show. It's one thing I REALLY miss about not having cable. Hooray for the internet! ;)

And the second one a little political in nature!

(I still am quite lazy, just FYI – I just feel like posting about this.)

The following article is one of the "Code 911" reports in our local paper. It's about some burglars who broke into a guy's house, stole some stuff (including guns), and went on a spending spree with the guy's credit card.

Four Guns Stolen in Silverdale Burglary

Article Text )

Now, you'd think the reactions to this would be "Heheh, stupid numbskull robber(s), using a credit card and leaving a trail!"

But, because there are guns involved, I knew where it was going to go. And it sure did.

One of the comments at the end:

Because this gun owner is not responsible with his guns we now have 4 more guns in the hands of criminals. If gun owners are so adamant about the right to own guns maybe they should be held accountable when their actions allow guns into the hands of criminals. IMHO if these weapons end up being used in a murder the gun owner should be charged as well. You get all the talk from the NRA crowd about their right to bare arms and yet they don't walk the walk and keep those guns from getting into the hands of the criminals.

Hm. Very Obama-esque. Of course, Obama isn't the first one to say almost the exact same things, but it's just as ludicrous no matter WHO is saying it.

I couldn't help but reply:

Wow, Snowdog, you make it sound as if this guy invited these criminals in, showed them where the guns were, then turned his back and let them walk off with them.

People *broke into* his house, *stole* his private property, and now he should be to blame for the burglars' criminal behavior?

Wrong. He could have locked up the guns, perhaps, but at some point the *criminals* must be held responsible for stealing property – weapons or not. The homeowner has been violated, and he has reported the theft of his weapons. He has fulfilled his responsibility.

Now the police need to do their job and track down the idiots who are leaving a glowing trail, so they can get the guns back.

And I'm sure the NRA couldn't care less whether they have sleeves on their shirts, or not . . . ;)

I doubt anyone else is going to read it (or get my needlessly snarky little jab at the commenter's spelling error), but it drives me CRAZY when people turn around and place the responsibility on the victim, instead of on the criminals, where it belongs. Give me a BREAK!

There are more people out there selling weapons illegally than victims who have them stolen from their property. Put the blame where it should be, and allow the average citizen to feel safe in their own homes – from idiot burglars and liberal/socialist politicians.

I'm still resisting the urge to write about politics in this blog. Unfortunately, that means that I have a lot to say, but I'm not going to say it, and my post is going to be shorter than it often is. I might write a few essay-type-things and post them over at Gather.com, since I have an account there that I never use. It seems like a better forum for ranting about idiot conservatives and socialistic democrats.

I'll just say this much: I live in fear of election day. It's not going to be pretty.

THAT said . . . Sweetie helped me clean the bedroom and hallway out this weekend, and we set up the baby cage crib in the bedroom (a Graco Pack-n-Play, and just the right size for the house!). It's currently a baby-stuff storage device, since we don't have anywhere to put all the stuff we've been getting. There are three bags of clothes I need to go through, and Shiva, Destroyer of Closet Monsters is on top of it all, as a mighty protector. I'll have to take a picture. :)

There is still too much of my clothing lying around, but at least the stuff I can currently wear is mostly folded and sort of put away. I need to go through the stuff I can't wear and Spacebag it or get rid of it. We Spacebagged two comforters and a blanket, and I was impressed how small the package got. Hopefully, the cat doesn't decide it's a tasty snack before I can get it put into the closet (she eats plastic). I'm hoping Spacebags end up saving us a lot of packing grief in the future. It's a pretty handy concept! :)

Man . . . it's just past 10:30, and I'm falling asleep already . . .

I'll go over and update [info]tiny_socks, but in case you don't read it, you should follow this link to my husband's blog to read what his fortune cookie said this afternoon. :) AWESOME! :D

I still haven't cancelled the cable. (D'OH!!! I'm SO ashamed . . . )

Celebrate Jesus ended well, although with a skeleton crew. We had enough people to give a few people breaks who needed them, but we had to leave one scene unstaffed and up to the viewers' imaginations. Oh well – has to be done. I came very close to laying down the law to a couple of our actors who kept coming in for food and drinks without being told they could (it's not a big deal if we have alternates for them, but when they're abandoning their post – and young enough to stick it out for a few hours, for goodness sake – I am not sympathetic). The only things that saved them were the fact that it was the last night, I was very tired and in pain (my pelvis is beginning to complain more frequently) and didn't want to get up to chase them down. My helper person hadn't been able to make it that night, so I was using my husband as a go-between, but also as an alternate actor. I obviously did not impress this fact on some people before they went out to act in their scenes. That was my fault, and part of the problem. But it wasn't that big a deal in the long run. If I saw them inside, I kicked them out. Good enough. It's over now!

Our septic is pumped and usable again, but needs repairs, which will rip up the backyard a bit when they get into it. I'm glad I haven't worked very hard to landscape the place.

It's nice to be back home again, except that I'm once again faced with a messy, undecorated house and my lazy, unmotivated self.

Today I'm resting. This weekend was non-stop, and I was sleep-deprived and in pain. I didn't want to push myself any farther. I do need to get SOMETHING done, though. At least I've already scrubbed the shower and sink last week. The Magic Eraser (and cheaper, off- and store-brand versions) is MUCH more convenient, and easier on the septic, than chlorine bleach. It's also more reusable and I'm less likely to bleach my clothing (or worse, the clothing I've borrowed) by accident. Wish I could use it on my white towels. But I've learned that OxyClean will actually whiten things if they're left to soak overnight. Will have to try that!

Umm . . . it's 2:30pm, and I'm still in PJs. I should fix that.

I've been listening to talk radio a lot, and have been suppressing the urge to make political comments in this blog. I don't know how long I'll be able to suppress it the closer we get to election season, so be ready to either ignore or face some longish rants about issues you probably don't care about.

I can't believe Christmas is next week. Dang. It snuck up on me again . . . Maybe I will decorate in October next year . . .

Our concert went well on Saturday, and here's a review, comparing us to the Seattle Symphony. He uses a bunch of high-falutin' language and was merciful about our false starts and glaring missteps, but he seemed to favor our performance over the larger, more professional Seattle performance. I think I'm flattered. :)

Ummm . . . Yep. I'm entering the third trimester with a bang. I'm huge and not sure how I'm going to get bigger. Baby still has a little space to move around, but he's beginning to protest lack of space more often. I WILL get around to updating my preggie blog, I just keep not doing it. Too much going on!

I don't often comment on political things (I'm not terribly qualified, and my B.S.-in-PoliSci husband isn't around to translate for me), but I just got wind of something that is both disturbing and annoying, all at once:

Cindy Sheehan, the Soldier's mother who galvanized the anti-war movement, said Sunday that she plans to seek House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's congressional seat unless she introduces articles of impeachment against President Bush in the next two weeks.

This woman is insane. Pelosi is arguably insane, as well, but she's already in office. What kind of a seat is that to run on, seriously?

"I want to be part of our government so I can get rid of our president in the last few months that he's even going to BE president!"

How about campaigning for your next president of choice, instead of wasting time and money to get rid of a president whose clock is already ticking? Or here's a thought, GET OFF IT, IMPEACHING BUSH IS NOT GOING TO BRING YOUR SON BACK!!! Neither is it going to make this great country any greater.

From the article: "Sheehan said she hopes Pelosi files the articles of impeachment so Sheehan can move onto her next projects, including overseas trips for humanitarian work."

Is she going to Iraq? She needs to. She should go do some humanitarian work where her son was killed. My only fear is that she would somehow manage to blame the "anger" of the Iraqi insurgents on the Bush administration.

*Sigh*

I am SO not looking forward to 2008 . . . Even more incentive to cancel my cable and phone service now, before the dreaded (and stupid) ads start up . . .
